Exploring Algerian-German cooperation opportunities to support investment in clean technologies and renewable energies

The Director General of the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency (AAPI), Mr. Omar REKKACHE, received on Tuesday, 30 June 2026, at the Agency’s headquarters, a delegation from the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), led by Mr. Christian SEITLINGER, in the presence of AAPI officials.

The meeting falls within the framework of strengthening Algerian-German economic cooperation and following up on preparations for the project aimed at integrating value chains between the European Union and Algeria in the field of clean technologies (Cleantech) and priority sectors.

The project aims to accompany Algeria’s efforts to diversify its economy, develop industrial value chains related to clean technologies, and enhance the competitiveness of the targeted sectors.

The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange views on ways to improve the investment climate, encourage private sector initiatives, facilitate technology transfer, build capacities, and develop industrial partnerships, thereby contributing to value creation and strengthening integration into regional and international value chains.

Part of the discussions also focused on prospects for developing renewable energy-related projects. The Algerian Investment Promotion Agency expressed its interest in benefiting from German expertise and technical support in this field, in order to continue facilitating the implementation of related investment projects, given their strategic importance and their role in accelerating economic transformation and promoting sustainable investment.

At the end of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to continuing coordination and strengthening cooperation in line with shared priorities, particularly in sectors related to renewable energies and the green economy.

The Director General of the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency receives the International Monetary Fund mission

The Director General of the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency (AAPI), Mr. Omar REKKACHE, received on Sunday, 28 June 2026, at the Agency’s headquarters, a mission from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), led by the IMF Mission Chief for Algeria, as part of the annual consultations conducted by the Fund with the Algerian public authorities, in the presence of the Secretary General of the Bank of Algeria and AAPI officials.

During the meeting, the Director General presented an overview of the reforms undertaken by Algeria to improve the investment climate, highlighting the main measures aimed at enhancing the attractiveness of the national economy, simplifying administrative procedures, and developing the investor accompaniment framework, particularly through reforms to the investment one-stop shop, the digitalization of services, and the strengthening of transparency in the management of economic land.

The Director General also presented an overview of investment in Algeria and the momentum witnessed across various sectors, as well as the main structuring investment projects currently being implemented across the different provinces of the country, as part of the State’s efforts to diversify the national economy and achieve balanced regional development.

The meeting also provided an opportunity to exchange views on the economic reforms undertaken by Algeria and the efforts aimed at improving the business climate and enhancing investment attractiveness. The Director General responded to the various inquiries raised by members of the IMF mission regarding the legal and institutional framework governing investment in Algeria and the guarantees provided to investors.

The visit concluded with a field tour of the One-Stop Shop of major projects and foreign investments, during which the IMF mission was briefed on the various departments represented there and received explanations on its operating mechanisms and its role in accompanying investors and facilitating the implementation of their projects.

the Director General of the Agency highlights the role of infrastructure in enhancing Algeria’s investment attractiveness

The Director General of the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency (AAPI), Mr. Omar REKKACHE, affirmed on Saturday, 27 June 2026, that Algeria has significant infrastructure assets that constitute a key pillar in enhancing the country’s attractiveness for major investments and achieving balanced regional development.

During an economic seminar entitled “Algeria: Potential, Reforms and Competitiveness for a Wealth-Creating Economy”, organized by the Ministry of Internal Trade and Regulation of National Market as part of the activities of the Algiers International Fair, the Director General explained that the Algerian State has made substantial investments in recent years to develop infrastructure, thereby ensuring a favorable business environment and improving investment, production, and export conditions.

During a panel discussion on “Algeria’s Strategic Assets: A Platform for Growth and Value Creation”, he pointed out that Algeria has an integrated infrastructure network comprising 36 airports and 45 ports, including 20 commercial ports, in addition to an extensive railway network and a modern road network, enabling the connection of various regions of the country to production and export hubs.

He also highlighted the importance of the three strategic corridors linking Algeria to the African hinterland, which open up promising prospects for accessing African markets, alongside investments made in telecommunications and modern technologies.

The Director General explained that this infrastructure base enables investors to facilitate the import of raw materials and the export of products, while ensuring logistical connectivity and proximity to ports and airports, which are among the main concerns usually raised by economic operators.

Regarding human resources development, the Director General noted the ongoing coordination with various partners, particularly the Algerian Economic Renewal Council and the vocational training and education sector, with the aim of adapting training programs to the needs of economic enterprises and providing a qualified workforce capable of accompanying investment projects.

More than 350 foreign investment projects registered with the Agency

In the same context, the Director General addressed Algeria’s efforts to attract foreign investments by consolidating a business climate based on trust, transparency, and clarity, as well as a stable legal framework providing investors with greater long-term visibility for the implementation of their projects.

In this regard, he revealed that 353 foreign investment projects have been registered, stressing that the implementation rate of several of these projects has reached significant levels, reflecting the growing confidence of foreign investors in Algeria’s business climate and the effectiveness of the economic reforms undertaken.

Regarding sectors capable of attracting high value-added investments, Mr. REKKACHE stated that Algeria is moving towards encouraging investment projects with a direct impact on economic growth, particularly those contributing to import substitution and improving the balance of payments.

He also highlighted the growing trend towards attracting major investment projects related to the valorization of mining resources and natural assets, achieving food security and developing strategic agricultural sectors, as well as expanding the pharmaceutical industry.

The Algerian Consulate General in Geneva, in partnership with the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency (AAPI), organized, on Wednesday evening, 24 June 2026, in the Swiss city of Geneva, an economic seminar on investment opportunities in Algeria, under the theme: “Investing in Algeria: Opportunities and Prospects.”

 The seminar, addressed to members of the Algerian community residing abroad, was chaired by the Consul General of Algeria in Geneva, Mr. Reda BOULAASSEL, and the Director General of the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency, Mr. Omar REKKACHE, with the participation of more than 250 members of the Algerian community in Switzerland, particularly professionals and businessman interested in investment.

In his opening remarks delivered via videoconference, the Secretary of State to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, in charge of the National Community Abroad, Mr. Sofiane CHAIB, affirmed that Algeria is witnessing a promising economic momentum driven by the structural reforms undertaken by the public authorities to improve the business climate and enhance investment attractiveness. He stressed the importance of the contribution of members of the Algerian diaspora in supporting the national development process through the implementation of high-quality, value-added investment projects.

 For his part, the Consul General of Algeria in Geneva highlighted the important role played by the Algerian community in Switzerland, considering it an economic force, a significant human capital, and a key partner in national development. He reaffirmed the Consulate General’s commitment to strengthening communication channels between members of the diaspora and Algerian economic institutions, in order to leverage their expertise and skills, encourage entrepreneurship and investment initiatives, and enable them to actively contribute to the development of their home country.

 In his intervention on this occasion, the Director General of the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency highlighted the attractiveness of Algeria’s business climate, the legal framework governing investment, and the facilities, guarantees, and tax incentives provided for the benefit of national and foreign investors.

 He also emphasized the role of the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency and its one-stop shops as the single point of contact for investors, through accompanying investors, foreign project holders, and members of the Algerian community abroad, simplifying administrative procedures, and facilitating the implementation of investments across various promising economic sectors.

The meeting provided an opportunity to showcase Algeria’s economic potential and the available investment opportunities in numerous sectors, thereby strengthening the contribution of the Algerian community abroad to the economic and development momentum currently experienced by the country.

 The economic seminar witnessed strong interaction from participants, who expressed their keen interest in establishing investment projects in various fields.

 The organization of this meeting is part of efforts to strengthen ties with members of the Algerian community residing abroad, particularly Algerian professionals living in Switzerland, and to encourage them to actively contribute to Algeria’s economic momentum, invest in the country, and benefit from the advantages it offers, thus contributing to wealth creation, job generation, and the support of national economic development.

The Algerian Investment Promotion Agency highlights the advantages of Algeria’s investment climate to a Saudi business delegation

The Algerian Investment Promotion Agency (AAPI) received, on Wednesday, 24 June 2026, a delegation of Saudi businessmen led by Mr. Ali Ben Abdelaziz Al Harish, Vice-President of the Algerian-Saudi Business Council, on the sidelines of their participation in the 57th edition of the Algiers International Fair.

During the meeting, AAPI officials delivered a presentation on Algeria’s investment framework and the reforms undertaken by the public authorities to improve the business climate and enhance the attractiveness of the national economy. The presentation also highlighted the advantages and guarantees provided under the Investment Law, as well as the investment opportunities available across various economic sectors, particularly agriculture, industry, energy and renewable energies, mining, and tourism.

Detailed explanations were also provided regarding the missions of the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency and the new prerogatives of its one-stop shops as an effective mechanism for the implementation of investment projects and the support of investors. The meeting further addressed the facilitation measures and simplified procedures made available through the investor’s digital platform, particularly those related to economic land access, as well as the opportunities offered by the Partnership Exchange platform to connect investors with project holders.

The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange views and perspectives on the prospects for developing Algerian-Saudi economic partnerships and strengthening the presence of Saudi investments in Algeria. Various questions raised by the Saudi delegation members regarding the process of establishing and expanding investment projects, financing mechanisms, profit repatriation procedures, as well as the legal guarantees granted to foreign investors and the reforms that have enhanced the stability and clarity of Algeria’s investment regulatory framework, were addressed.

The Algerian Investment Promotion Agency participates in the 57th Edition of the Algiers International Fair

The Algerian Investment Promotion Agency (AAPI) is participating in the 57th edition of the Algiers International Fair, held at the Exhibition Palace in Pins Maritimes – Algiers, from 22 to 27 June 2026, as part of its efforts to enhance investment attractiveness and promote Algeria’s business environment.

Through its stand located in the “Palestine” Pavilion, the Agency welcomes investors and economic operators, providing them with information and explanations regarding the Agency’s missions and investor accompaniment mechanisms, as well as the advantages and incentives offered under Algeria’s investment legal framework.

The Agency’s stand has welcomed numerous national and foreign economic operators, as well as a high-level delegation from Bosnia and Herzegovina comprising the Director General of the Foreign Investment Promotion Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FIPA), Mr. Marko KUBATLIJA, and the Vice-President of the Bosnian Employers’ Organization “Strategic Business Organization of Bosnia” (SBO), Ms. Edita TURKOVIĆ.

The Bosnian delegation received presentations on the mechanisms for accompanying investment projects provided by the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency, in addition to an overview of the main domestic and foreign projects that have benefited from the Agency’s accompaniment throughout the various stages of their implementation.

This participation falls within the framework of the Agency’s efforts to strengthen communication with economic operators and expand prospects for partnership and cooperation with various both economic operators and foreign institutions.

Indian Group “JINDAL SAW Ltd” seeks to implement an investment project in Algeria

The Director General of the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency (AAPI), Mr. Omar REKKACHE, received on Sunday 21 June 2026, at the Agency’s headquarters, a high-level delegation from the Indian group “JINDAL SAW Ltd”, one of the world’s leading producers of iron and steel pipes, as part of efforts to explore investment opportunities and industrial partnership in Algeria.

The delegation was headed by the Group’s Chairman, Mr. Prithvi Raj Jindal, in the presence of the Ambassador of India to Algeria, Ms. Swati Vijay Kulkarni, along with several senior executives of the Group.

During the meeting, the Indian delegation presented an investment project for the establishment of an industrial complex in Algeria dedicated to the production of steel pipes of various diameters and sizes. The project aims to meet the needs of the national market and strengthen Algeria’s capacities in downstream industries related to the energy sector, water resources, and infrastructure.

During the working session, various clarifications were provided regarding Algeria’s investment climate, the procedures governing the implementation of investment projects, as well as the advantages and incentives offered under the investment legal framework.

“JINDAL SAW Ltd”, a subsidiary of “JINDAL GROUP”, is one of the leading global players in the steel and iron pipe industry. The Director General of the Bosnian Foreign Investment Promotion Agency Visits the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency

As part of efforts to strengthen economic and investment cooperation relations between Algeria and Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Director General of the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency (AAPI), Mr. Omar REKKACHE, received on Sunday 21 June 2026, at the Agency’s headquarters, the Director General of the Foreign Investment Promotion Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FIPA), Mr. Marko KUBATLIJA, and the Vice-President of the Bosnian Employers’ Organization “Strategic Business Organization” (SBO), Ms. Edita TURKOVIC.

This visit takes place within the framework of the participation of a high-level Bosnian delegation, comprising a number of business leaders and investors, in the 57th edition of the Algiers International Fair, scheduled to be held from 22 to 27 June 2026 in Algiers.

The meeting provided an opportunity to review the mandates of both agencies and their respective roles in promoting and facilitating investment in their countries, as well as in accompanying investment projects until they enter the operational phase.

On this occasion, the Director General of the Agency presented Algeria’s business climate and the reforms undertaken to enhance investment attractiveness, while highlighting the investment potential and opportunities available, particularly in the sectors of mining, agriculture and strategic crops, industry, energy, and renewable energies.

The two sides also discussed ways to strengthen cooperation between the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency and the Foreign Investment Promotion Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the field of investment promotion. They agreed to prepare a Memorandum of Understanding setting out the cooperation mechanisms between the two parties, particularly with regard to the exchange of expertise and best practices in investment promotion, as well as the sharing of information on available investment opportunities in both countries.

Coordination meeting between the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency and the Ministry of Vocational Training and Education

As part of the follow-up on the implementation of the agreement concluded between the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency and the Ministry of Vocational Training and Education, a coordination working meeting was held on Wednesday 17 June 2026, at the Agency’s headquarters. The meeting was dedicated to assessing the progress made in the development of the digital platform designed for the exchange of data relating to ongoing investment projects and their needs for qualified human resources.

The meeting was chaired by the Minister of Vocational Training and Education, Mrs. Nassima ARHAB, and the Director General of the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency, Mr. Omar REKKACHE, in the presence of executives from both sectors.

 This meeting is part of the preparations for the upcoming vocational training intake, through the adaptation of training programmes and specialisations to the actual needs of investment projects across the different wilayas of the country.

During the meeting, the technical aspects of the digital platform and the mechanisms for collecting and analysing data related to labour market needs were reviewed, enabling the anticipation of skills requirements and the orientation of training efforts in line with investment needs.

A number of indicators used in the analysis process were also discussed, particularly investment projects with the greatest impact on job creation, while taking into consideration the progress rate of project implementation and the deadlines for their entry into operation.

This approach will enable the establishment of an accurate national map of future skills requirements, distributed according to regions, economic sectors and required specialisations, based on data declared by investors. It will contribute to enhancing the effectiveness of vocational training planning and improving its alignment with the requirements of economic development.

In this regard, emphasis was placed on the importance of adopting a proactive approach based on the development of targeted training programmes that accompany investment projects from their early stages, thereby ensuring the availability of the required skills upon the start of their operations.

Both parties also stressed the importance of this mechanism as a strategic tool for strengthening coordination between the vocational training system and the investment sector, and for supporting the integration of vocational training graduates into the labour market in a manner that responds to the needs of the national economy.

Algeria promotes investment opportunities and business climate advantages at the Canada–Africa Trade and Investment Forum

The Algerian Investment Promotion Agency (AAPI) participated, on Thursday, 4 June 2026, via videoconference, in the 8th edition of the Canada–Africa Trade and Investment Forum, held in Montreal, Canada, on 4–5 June 2026.

During this international economic event, which brought together economic and institutional operators, representatives of investment promotion agencies, and business leaders from Canada and various African countries, Ms. Imane KHECHAÏ, Head of Studies at the Agency, delivered a presentation highlighting the reforms undertaken by Algeria to improve the business climate, simplify administrative procedures, and strengthen the role of the One-Stop Shop, as well as the incentives and advantages offered to investors.

The Agency’s participation also provided an opportunity to showcase Algeria’s economic potential and the investment opportunities available across various sectors.

 The Canada–Africa Trade and Investment Forum is considered one of the leading economic events aimed at strengthening trade and investment partnerships between Canada and African countries by providing a platform for dialogue, knowledge sharing, and the exploration of cooperation opportunities among economic operators.
