A delegation from the Agency, comprising Mr. Mahfoud OGBA, Director, and Ms. Manel BOURAHLA, an officer at the Agency, participated in the Agriculture and Fisheries Expo held from the 21st to the 25th of September, 2024, on the island of Ortigia, Sicily, Italy. This event concurred with the G7 Ministers’ Meeting on Agriculture and Fisheries, held on September 26th, 2024, and attended by the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mr. Youcef CHORFA.
The Agency’s delegation, accompanied by the Deputy Consul General and an officer from the Economic Affairs Department at the Consulate in Naples, took part in prospecting meetings with 19 exhibitors, including government institutions, professional organizations, and institutions active in agriculture, fisheries, aquaculture, and beekeeping.
In addition to the meetings at the expo, at the suggestion of Mr. Araldo Mattiei, the Agency’s delegation met with the Director General of CAMPISI, specializing in tuna canning. They also held a webinar with the two Executive Directors of FEMOGAS, which is originally an agricultural company and has expanded its activities into biogas production. This meeting was held at the Sonatrach Refinery in Augusta, proposed and attended by senior officials from the national company. Following the meeting, the delegation conducted a field visit to various technical facilities of the refinery.
Throughout all the meetings, the Agency’s delegation listened to explanations offered by representatives of various bodies and institutions, particularly regarding investment strategies outside of Italy. The Agency’s delegation, in turn, presented the opportunities, potential, and incentives measures of investment in Algeria.
