As part of the series of expert meetings organized under the project to promote European investments in Algeria, initiated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad in collaboration with the European Union, a discussion session entitled “Algeria’s Integration into Global Value Chains” was held on Wednesday, September 18th, 2024, at the headquarters of the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency.
The session was opened by Mr. Omar REKKACHE, Director General of the Agency, and attended by His Excellency Mr. Björn HÄGMARK, Ambassador of Sweden to Algeria. The event saw participation from various ministerial departments, The National Economic, Social and Environmental Council (CNESE), The Algerian Economic Renewal Council (CREA), and representatives from the European Union delegation in Algeria.
This session included two presentations:
- Ms. Assia ZAAROUR, Director General in charge of Industrial Investment, small and medium-sized enterprises at the Ministry of Industry and Pharmaceutical Production, presented on “Prospects and Opportunities for Integrating the Algerian Economy into Global Value Chains.”
- Mr. Marc LAUTIER, an international expert on value chains, presented on “Concept and Analysis of Value Chains.”
The session was enriched by several high-quality interventions from both Algerian and foreign experts, who highlighted the prospects and the potential for integrating the Algerian economy into global value chains, given Algeria’s human, natural, and material resources, as well as the incentives offered that qualify it to attract foreign investments in partnership with major global companies.
